CROQUET AT WHANGAREI.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WH.VNGAREI, this day. Yesterday, a very pleasant afternoon was spent on the Whangarel Croquet Club's lawns, the occasion being the olilcial closing of the playing season. Various competitions were keenly contested, the winners being Mrs. Ratcliffe (bowls), Mr<>. Ha 11 id ay (ladder), Mrs. Menzies (golf), Mrs. Itoss (snake), and Mrs. Bouif (bagatelle). The winners of the club matches played during the season were; Mrs. Morton, intermediate championship singles; Mrs. Kerr, B championship singles: Mrs. Walker. A handicap singles; Mrs. Kerr. B handicap singles; Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Moyle-Smlth, A 1 and A 2 championship doubles; Mrs. Morrish and Mrs. Wlthmore A and B handicap doubles. Mrs. Morrish. in the absence of the president, Mrs. Caplln, presented the prizes.
