DIVIDEND OF 4 PER CENT. DOMINION FERTILISERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The directors of the Dominion Fertilisers Company have recommended the payment of a dividend at the rate of 4 per cent per annum, payable on June 0. P. AND O. COMPANY. NO DIVIDEND. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, Msy 1. The I'. and' O. Steam Navigation Co. will not pay an interim dividend on deferred stock. • HENRY JONES CO. INTERIM DIVIDEND. The directors of Henry Jones, Ltd., announce tllkir intention to pay an intcrim dividend of Ud a share on ordinary shares on June 1. HOWARD SMITH, LIMITED. LdPROVED SHIPPING TRAFFIC. Speaking at the annual meeting last week of Howard Smith, Ltd., Melbourne, the vice-chairman. Mr. A. Howard Smith, said that there had been continued improvement in business generally, particularly in shipping cargo and passenger .traffic. y| Mr. Smith said there hadSbeen, no .serious industrial trouble also had materially assisted. However, no dividends had been received from the company's investments in Caledonian Collieries, Limited, the Invincible Colliery, Limited, Australian Iron and Steel. Limited, and Southern Portland Cement, Limited. In the balance-sheet the principal variation was in respect of shares in other companies, which had increased by £04,115, mainly due to further payments in respect of the shareholding in Australian Iron and Steel, Limited. AUSTRALIAN STEEL. Speaking at the annual meeting in Sydned of Australian Iron and Steel, Ltd., Mr. C. H. Iloskins, chairman of directors, said that the board was pleased in being able to recommend payment of a dividend at the rate of Vh per 1 cent per annum on the cumulative preference shares for the half-year to May 1, 1931. With a continuance of the improvement in trade, the directors anticipated being in a position to continue the half-yearly payments and the gradual liquidation of arrears. Mr. Iloskins said that the sheet mill and galvanising plant had been completed and were now ji operation. Additional coke ovens had been erected at Wongawilli and were operating satisfactorily. A third steel furnace had been erected and had commenced production. In addition, a full range of structural rolls was being provided to meet the large demand for structural sections.
