RELIEF FOR SINGLE GIRLS.
CHRISTCHURCH ASSERTION.

DUNEDIN, Wednesday
Social workers emphatically deny the statement which was made by a woman member of a Christchurch deputation to the Minister of Employment in advancing the claims of unemployed women to sustenance to the effect that many single girls were being driven on to the streets. In combatting the statement social workers said that if jobs were not available girls were taken on at unemployment rooms, paid 7/0 weekly and given a hot meal daily wiln morning and afternoon tea. Assistance was given to those in need of clothes, and there was no need for any unemployed girl to want.
