OBITUARY.

MR. GEORGE H. CARTER.

The death occurred suddenly yesterday afternoon of Mr. George H. Carter, of Shore Road, Remuera, at the age oi 62 years. A director of J. K. McKenzie, Ltd, Mr. Carter was an Australian by birth. When he first came to New Zealand he lived in Wellington for some rears, coming to Auckland seven years Lo. The late Mr. Carter was well known in howling circles, not only in Auckland, but also in other centres. Since coming to Auckland he had been a member of the Carlton Club. At variou 9 times ho won competitions conducted by the Auckland Centre, and Ins Seath wUI be keenly felt by members of the bowling fraternity,_among uhom he was very popular. He '* s ™< Mrs. Carter, a son, Mr Hugh Carter, and a daughter, Mrs. W. Geo laylor. The funeral will take place to-morrow.

MR. R. R- FENTON. A chieftain of the Ngati-Apakura tribe, Mr. Richard Rauparaha Fenton, died recently in Auckland, aged 40 years Bis interment took place on Taupni mountain. Mr. Fenton was born at Kawhia, being a son of the late Mn Rauparaha Fenton. He is survived by his mother, wife, two brothers and three sisters. MR. DAVID McCRACKEN. A resident .of New Zealand for 71 years, Mr. David McCrncken Wat ruke on April 30, aged 85. He landed at Auckland with his par.ents in l»o«, and when still a lad served during the war with the Maoris as a dispatch rulei between Auckland, Drury and TuaKau. He was afterwards farming and contraetin.r at Banks Peninsula. Later he live at" Stratford and Taihape and in WM. took up land at Te Puke. He served on various local bodies and also as a director of a dairy company. The following children are left: Mr. David McCracken (Matakohe), Mrs. McKec (Heme Bay , Air. William McCracken (Whakatane), Mr. Alfred McCracken (Tauranga), Mrs. Roberta (Rotorua), Mrs. James McWilliams (Wellington), Messrs. Leslie and Hector McCracken and Miss McCracken (Te Puke).
