MORRINSVILLE SALE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, this day. A keen demand for all classes of cattle and brisk bidding for prime baconer pigs were features of the Morrinsville weekly stock sales yesterday. Only a few sheep were yarded. The auctioneers quote as follows: —
The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited. —Bidding was brisk for a good yarding of all classes of cattle and a total clearance was effected under the hammer, late rates being fully maintained. A pen of eight mediumweight prime Polled Angus bullocks sold on account of Howie Bros., Kiwitahi, averaged £8 7/; two pens of prime Hereford heifers sold on account of Thomas Bros., Kereone, averaged £5 12/6, and ten prime Hereford cows and heifers sold on account of It. F. Hall, Walton, made £5 1/. A number of dairy cows and heifers were yarded and met with keen inquiry. There was an exceptionally large yarding of fat pigs, including a line of 60 prime baconers on account of Mr. R. J. Mears, of Morrinsville, which averaged £3 10/3. Competition for baconers was keen. Porkers also sold well up to late rates. Prices for an average yarding of stores and weaners showed a slight improvement. Quotations: —Beef cattle: Fat P.A. steers, to £8 7/; fat Hereford cows and heifers, £5 1/ to £5 12/6; light fat Hereford heifers, to £4; medium quality fat cows and heifers, £3 5/ to £4 2/6; light fat cows and heifers, £2 8/ to £2 19/; billable cows, £1 12/ to £2 16/; two-year Jersey heifers, r.w.b., £2 10/ to £3 1/; dairy cows (late calvers). £2 4/ to £2 15/. Sheep: Fat and forward wethers, £1 to £1 3/. Pigs: Prime heavy baconers, £3 10/ to £3 11/; medium baconers, £2 18/ to £3; light baconers, £2 10/ to £2 16/; heavy porkers, 38/ to £2 8/; medium porkers, 31/ to 35/; light porkers, 24/ to 20/; unfinished porkers and stores, 17/ to 23/; slips, 8/6 to 13/6; weaners, 4/ to 8/.
Dalgety and Company, Limited. —A full yarding of cattle and a medium entry of sheep and pigs came forward, and practically a total clearance was effected at well up to late rates. A good entry of cow beef met with good competition before a full bench of buyers. Quotations: — Cattle: Heavy fat cows, £3 5/ to £4 10/; medium cows, £2 5/ to £2 18/; killable cows, 35/ to £2 2/; good fat Friesian cows, £3 10/ to £4 10/; light fat Jersey heifers, £2 to £3 1/; boner cows, 10/ to 34/; potter bulls, £2 10/ to £3 3/; lighter bulls, £1 11/ to £2 2/. Sheep: Aged fat ewes, 14/. Pigs: Light baconers, £2 4/ to £2 14/; heavy porkers, £1 18/ to £2 3/; medium porkers, 32/ to 37/; light porkers, 26/ to 31/; good stores, 23/6 to 24/; slips. 17/; Berkshire boars, £2 4/.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited.—There was a full yarding of cattle, including the advertised line of store steers which came forward in good condition and elicited keen competition from an eager bench of buyers. Quotations: —Medium fat cows', up to £3 12/; lighter and unfinished cows, £2 15/ to £3 12/: good store cows. 35/ to £2 5/; boners. 12/ to 25/; forward-condi-tioned three-year-old Hereford steers, to £5 15/; Polled Angus steers, £4 5/ to £4 16/; two-year-old Red Poll steers, £4: poorer-conditioned Red Poll steers, £2 19/.
