THE MUNICIPAL BAND.

With the passing of summer also passe* the open-air concerts given by the Municipal Band, enjoyed by thousands, and many more thousands in their homes per medium of radio. Last Sunda% night's concert came over very well. This band is a great asset to our lovely city, and now the era of leisure has arrived we should have more of these bands to play in public places on Sundays or holidays. The people prefer the band in the open air, as will be seen by the sizes of the audiences that usually attend the Town Hall concerts. A traveller who not long ago toured the Continent said this band would compare very favourably with the Continental bands, whose players are employed at full time in their profession.
