BROADCAST PROGRAMMES. BOARD'S FULL POWERS. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. On the passing of the Broadcasting Bill, the Postmaster-General lias promptly repealed the regulations under which lie controlled the nature of radio programmes to bo broadcast. In an Order-in-Council in last night's gazette revokes the regulation published in 1932 .under which broadcasting stations were not to be used for the dissemination of propaganda of a controversial nature, but should be restricted, to matter of an educative, informative or entertaining character such as news lectures, useful information, religious services, musical or elocutionary entertainment and other items of general interest, as may be approved by the Minister. The whole responsibility for programmes is in future within the discretion of the Broadcasting Board. Another regulation repealed deals with advertising matter. It prohibited broadcasting stations from presenting advertising unless specially authorised by the Minister, and with the revocation of this regulation a clause in the amending Act operates to exclude advertising from radio broadcasting.
