A BRIGHTER TONE.
(P.y Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTC.HURCH, this day. The markets were very active this morning, and a brighter tone was evident in every section. The main features were activity in Refrigerating at improved rates, a vise in Big River, a stronger demand for Kaiapoi Woollen shares, and a further rise in quotations of AVoolworths (Sydney). An odd parcel of New Zealand Refrigerating (fully paid) brought a vise of Sd, and further buyers offered 10/0, sellers standing off the market. The contributing issue advanced to 8/5. Tn Australian Tron and Steel (pref.). 100 shares changed hands, the sale being interesting in that the company's accounts arc due shortly. Dunlops slipped 3d with business, and further buyers at 17/2. Woolworths had no business, but the quotations continued firm, the market closing between BG/3 and S7/6.
