SOW CALENDULAS NOW.
NEW POT MARIGOLDS. These gorgeous flowers may be liad in perfection by the simple process of scattering seed at the present time (March) in suitable soil in a sunny position. "Suitable soil only means an ordinary bed or border that has been forked over, pulverised and made damp before scattering the seed. Many of the waste places could be made beautiful by these marigolds. Some folks despise them, but surely that is because they are unacquainted with the better varieties, though ever the old calendula officinalis, or pot marigold, can give a wonderful show of colour. Now there are the newer sorts, such as Meteor, double, with its petals a mixture of orange and lemon. Orange King, Lemon Queen, Ball's Apricot, Radio, orange with quilled petals, Campfire, deep orange. Chrysantha, with long wide drooping petals as in the chrysanthemum, the colour a clear buttercup yellow. All are good, and in a rather dry, sunny position will give a good account of themselves for weeks.
