MAORI AXEMAN FINED. (.From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Friday. A Maori, Jack Noble, of Pukekohe, appeared before Mr. F. 11. Levien, S.M.. in the Pukekohe Magistrate's Court, charged with wilfully damaging live trees valued at £4 4/, the property of Eleanor May Plum-er. Defendant, who pleaded guilty, stated that he was training for the chipping events at the Pukekohe sports, and had scarfed the trees, but had not chopped them right through. Defendant considered tlie trees were greatly overvalued. A line of £2 was inflicted.
