YOUNG MAN BORROWS MONEY "You have aggravated your offence by coming here and telling lies which amount to perjury," said Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday to a young man, R. J. R. McDermott, who denied a charge of obtaining 2/(i from a shopkeeper by ■ falsely representing that he was employed at a big city clothing firm. The complainant, a woman, said McDermott borrowed half a crown from lier by stating that he was employed by a large firm nearby. He gave lier tiie name, of "Jameson" and did not return to repay the money. After McDermott had given evidence denying the woman's story, the magistrate imposed a fine of £4, or 21 days' imprisonment. Defendant was also ordered to refund the 2/G.
