UNIVERSITY ROLL DECLINE.
SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Classes at the Victoria University College so far this year total 1528 students, as against 1775 last year. The principal details are as follows:—Economics, 140, as against 97 last year; English, 93 (93); chemistry, 88 (08); physics, 81 (S2); French, 74 (99); Latin, 72 (66); history, 06 (85). Jacob Joseph scholarships have been awarded by the College Council to H. Rosen (first class honours in law), D. E. Andrews (first class honours in chemistry), Miss Mary Boyd (first class honours in zoology). The council has also approved the "granting of James Mcintosh scholarships to A. E. Fieldhouse and G. Hallidos. The Sir Robert Stout scholarship this year has been awarded to C. M. P. Brown.
