VISIT TO ROME.

BISHOP LISTON LEAVING. FAREWELL TO BE GIVEN. The* Rt. Rev. Bisliop Liston, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, will leave 011 his first official visit to Rome next Friday. A public farewell will be given in the Town Hall 011 Thursday evening. Sir. J. P. Wright will preside over the function, and the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, will speak on behalf of the citizens. Other speakers will be the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Caliill, representing the Roman Catholic clergy, and Mr. R. McVeagh, representing the laity.. Bishop Liston will reply, and musical items will be given. The gathering, which will be widely representative, will include members of the Consular Corps, the City Council, suburban local bodies and other authorities and officers of Roman Catholic societies in Auckland. Members of Parliament and the Legislative Council have been invited to attend.
