GRAPES PLENTIFUL NO RIPE BANANAS. EGG PRICES RAISED. Although the Hauraki landed a large consignment of - green Samoan bananas yesterday, the market is at present bare ot' ripe bananas. Supplies will be plentiful, however, within the next week, as, in addition to the Hauraki's consignment, a further shipment of bananas, together with other island fruit, will arrive at Auckland by the Waipahi on Monday. The supply of To Kamvhata grapes lias now reached its height and these are selling cheaply. Low prices arc also being received lor tomatoes. Quotations are: — Apples: Cox's Orange, 0/ to 10/ per case; Jonathan, 4/ to 0/0; Granny Smith, 4/0 to 0/; Munroes, 4/ to 5/; Ballarats, ,-,/ to 4/0; Golden Kusset, 4/ to G/. J'eara: Louis iion,'B/ to 9/; B. Hose, 3/ to 4/; Bartletts, 3/ to 4/; Keiflers, 2/ 'o 3/. 1/assions: 4/ to 7/. Quinces: 0/ to 10/. Figs: 1/0 I" ; V- Oranges: California)!, 2</ to 35/; Jamaican, 25/ to 32/0. Lemons: Cured, 10/ to 10/; otners, 4/ to 8/. .Mandarins: l'iji, 15/ to 20/. Tomatoes: Outdoor, choice iirm ripe, 3/0 to 5/; others, 1/ to 2/0. Bananas: Green, 10/ to 17/0. i'ines: Queensland, 10/ to 12/. Grapes: To Kanwliata, 5/ to 0/'; Column, extra choice 1/ to l/s per lb. Vegetables, The market is overloaded with -citron melons, -which are practically unsaleable. Marrows, too, are hard to quit,' and the demand for pumpkins is also limited, heavy supplies of all varieties being now available. Heavier supplies of onions are arriving on the market resulting in a drop in prices. Good quality cabbages and cauli(lowers and first-class potatoes meet with a fair demand, but smaller grades of potatoes are hard to sell. Quotations are: — Potatoes, 3/ to 7/ per bag; swedes, 1/ to 3/; onions, 4/0 to 0/; kumaras, 2/0 to 3/0; cabbages, 5/ to 12/ per sack; on benches, 4/ to 7/ per dozen; cauliflowers, 4/ to 0/ per sack; • pumpkins, 3/ to 8/ per cwt; Best Crown, 0/ to 12/; cucumbers. 2/ to 3/0 per dozen; carrots, Od to 1/; parsnips, 1/ to 1/0; beet, 5d io 1/; turnips, 0d; radish, Od; spring onion.*, 8d to 1/3 per bundle; spinach, Od to lOd per dozen; leeks, 2d to 3d per bundle; green peas, 0/ to 10/ per bag; French beans, Od to 4/; marrows, Od to 1/ per dozen; melons, 2/ to 3/ per cwt; lettuce 1/ to 0/ per case; celery, cooking, 8d to 1/ per bundle; dessert, 1/3 to 2/; rhubarb, 1/ to 2/9 l>er dozen Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was heavy and the demand was lair. Tlie prices paid show lower levels for Black Orpington hens. Market unsteady. Selling rates were as follow: — Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime, 2/0 to 4/0 each; not prime, 1/3 up; light breeas, prime, 1/0 to 2/9; not prime, Od up. I'at roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 1/0 to 2/3; light breeds, 1/3 to 1/0. Fat hens: Heavy breeds, 1/9 to 2/3; light breeds, 1/3 to 1/6. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best, 4/ to 0/0: smaller, 1/0 up; light breeds, best, 4/ to 5/0; smaller, 1/6 up. Drakes: Young, •prime, 1/9 'to 2/6; smaller, 1/ up; old, 1/6 to 2/. Ducks: Young, 2/ to 3/; old, I/O to 2/. Eoos Dearer. The price of eggs has advanced Id per dozen, to-dav's quotations being:—lien eggs: First grade, l/IOVi per dozen; B grade, 1/6V4; C grade, 1/2Vi. Duck eggs: First grade, 1/8% per dozen; B grade, l/VAf C grade, 1/3%.
