DAHLIA SHOW.
MOUNT ALBERT SOCIETY.
HUNDREDS OF FINE BLOOMS.
Over 350 entries were received for the first dahlia show organised by the Mount Albert Horticultural and Beautifying Society, which was opened yesterday by Mr. T. T. Garland, in King Georges Hall, Mount Albert.
"The entries, I believe, constitute a record for a suburban show, and are almost up to the number received at tlie recent show of the Auckland Horticultural Society," said the secretary, Mr. D. Keatley,. jun. "They are no doubt due to the good weather conditions that have prevailed for the past two weeks, and the judges say that some of the winning blooms could take their, place with credit at any metropolitan show. Entries ha\e come from all over the. Auckland province," 1 The hall was too small to accommodate all the blooms, and the stage and supper room had to be used. They made a magnificent display, banked high on terraced tables which are arranged in rows in the hall. There is also a decorative section which has produced some artistic entries. . . , ~ „ The show closes this evening, when the prizes will be presented. The awards made were: CHAMPIONSHIPS.
