ROAD IN BAD CONDITION LOSS OF BUSINESS. (P.y Telegraph. —Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Friday. "It is a disgraceful road, being the worst graded and the worst surfaced road in the Franklin County,' eaifjJlr. C. Cooper at a meeting of the Pukes£>he Chamber of Commerce, when' referral to the Bombay-Pukekohe main highway. He paid that the residents of Bombay were threatening to go to Papakura to do their shopping as soon as the Great South Road sealing was completed, in order to avoid travelling over the Bombay-Pukekohe Road in its present condition. ,In the ensuing discussion members were of the opinion that the alignment and grading should be improved immediately in order to allow the tar-sealing of the road at the earliest opportunity. > The chamber decided to urge the Franklin County Council to carry out immediately a higher standard of maintenance on the highway, improve the existing grading and alignment, and put inland immediately the survey of an improved route, so that a tar-sealing programme may be begun at an early date.

Arrangements were made by the chamber to meet Mr. J. !N T . Masscy, M.P., in order to discuss the question, and to enlist the help of Bombay district residents.
