REVIEWS.

Wβ have received for review an anthem, "All Thy Works Praise Thee, O Lord," the composition of Mr. Edward S Craston, Mus. Bac, organist of St. David's Church, and Hon. City Organist, Auckland. This is a musicianally work, and a welcome addition to anthems suitable for Harvest Thanksgiving services. The words, taken from Psalm 145, are appropriate, while the setting is tuneful and well within the scope of a church choir. Variety is'given by the employment of both a semi chorus and an unaccompanied quartet as well as a full chorus. From the Southern Song Service, of Gore, Southland, New Zealand, we have received a school song, "Hail, New Zealand!" lyrics by M. Moffat, and music by J. J. Stroud, arranged by D. S. Sharp. The words of this are of a patriotic character, and the musical accompaniment, written in march time, is bright and melodious, the whole composition being eminently suitable to the purpose for which it was written.
