JOTTINGS FROM WORLD'S PRESS. Soon after an air liner left Chiclayo, Peru, for Paeasmayo, a passenger went insane. The pilot, without losing control of the 'plane, struggled with the madman and eventually overpowered, him. Then other passengers held the lunatic until the 'plane reached its destination. Trixie, a French poodle, kept vigil for three years at the bedside of an invalid friend, Mrs. Lena Geistnieyet> of Chicago, the mother of the dog's mistress. Mrs. Geistmeyer died. Trixie refused to be comforted. She would not eat; she spurned sympathy and caresses. And so Trixie at the age of eighteen died of grief.
On a Thorney (Isle of Ely) farm is a cow with a mania for electric light. Mr. Ernest Fee, the farmer, installed electric Jight in the cowshed to help his cowman in the winter. Although the light was turned oft after the night milking the cowman found the lamps burning several mornings. One night in the darkness he hid himself in order to find the solution to the mystery. Suddenly the lights came on. And there was a five-year-old cow licking and biting the switch.
Ralph Langan, of Chicago, rushed his wife in his car to n. maternity hospital. For several hours he waited anxiously. Then a nurse came into the corridor and told Ralph he was the father of a fine daughter. "Hurrah," said Ralph, "I'll just drive around and tell all the folk." But when he got outside the hospital thoro was no ear there. It had been stolen. "You can't have everything," was the father's philosophic remark as he weqt to the 'phone to notify the police.
