MANUREWA NOTES.

Pegler's Hall was well filled last night when a complimentary social and dance was tendered to patrons of the weekly 500 card tournaments, by the executive of the Manurewa Town Band. A special room was set aside for card players, and the main hall, prettily decorated, was used for the dancers. Mr. A. Whatford acted as master of ceremonies. Votes of thanks, moved by Mr. J. Edwards, chairman of band's executive, were carried by, acclamation to Mr. E. S. Pegler, who kindly lent the hall for the evening, and to Mrs. R. W. Buttcrworth (pianiste), leader of the band's newly-formed orchestra of five players. The ladies of the band .social committee provided supper, and were heartily thanked.- .
