GRAMMAR OLD BOYS.
GATHERING FOR LUNCHEON
ADDRESS BY DR. B. MYERS,
Memories of his own old school days, some of hie experiences in other lands, and news of the Old Boys' Association in London, were related to old boys of the Auckland Grammar School by Dr. Bernard Myers, C.M.G., at a luncheon meeting of the Auckland Grammar School" Old Boys' Association in the Reception Hall "of Messrs. Milne and Choyce yesterday.
The speaker said he had been chairman at an old boys' gathering in London, and he had been able to secure permission to hold the meetings in Vernon House, the headquarters of the Overseas League, of which he was a member. When they met, he said, the old boys spoke of the old school, old headmasters, old masters, the times they had been thrashed and the times they ought to have been. While he was speaking he had sent round a roll, to be signed by all old boys present. He said he would be proud, to take that home with him and to exhibit it to the old boys' association there.
Ho stressed the value of tradition in a school, and to that end spoke of some of the famous schools in England. '-'We hold tradition out to the boye," he said, "we show them what ought to be followed." He finished his address by saying, "Gentlemen, long may the old school fkmrish." ;
