CYRIL MAUDE RETURNS.
IN REGENT'S NEW FILM. In his all-too-rarc appearances on the English cinema screen Cyril Maude has made a host of friends. Aucklanders have seen and admired him in such splendid pictures as "Grumpy," "These Charming People" and "Orders Is Orders." They will have yet another opportunity to smile at his rich humour next week, for to-morrow will see the release of "Girls Will Be Boys" at the Regent Theatre. In this picture he has a highly promising role as an irascible old duke, and is supported by Dolly Haas, brilliant Continental comedy star, and the famous Irene Vanbrugh (in her second talkie). Miss Haas is seen as a pretty young girl who masquerades as a boy in order to appear as a "male heir" to her grandfather, an eccentric duke with an aversion for having women about his household. As may be imagined,_ all kinds of hilarious and surprising situations arise during the masquerade, which keeps things moving at a merry pace. As "Pat" Caverley the heroine has to hide her blushes as she listens to the latest stories of the duke's bachelor friends, go into the gymnasium and box with the young trainer, appointed to make a "man out of the boy, ever resisting the temptation to powder her nose, always find I excuses to escape the necessity of having ; a shower or go swimming with her I trainer, and a hundred and one other ] difficulties that keep bobbing up with , tantalising regularity. | The Bc-gent's supporting bill includes a review of the past twelve months' sporti ing, political and general events.
