AUCKLAND CLUB. COATES AND REDFERN WINNERS. Th"> Auckland Cycle Club's mid-weekly meeting was held at the I'hyber Pass grass track last evening. Fair fields competed on a track that was dead after the recent rain. Results :— One Mile, junior.—E. Redfern, ]10yds. 1 ; B. Ilarvey, scr, 2 ; J. Bieknell, 100 yds, 3; J. Macdonald, 70yds, 4. Time, 2.42 4-5. The winner was out in front forcing the pace all the way and, sprinting well, headed a bunched field across the line by a length. Ilarvey just got up to head off Bieknell by half it length.
One Mile, senior.—L. Coates. 180 yds, 1; S. Weller, 95yds, 2; I'. Bieknell. 15yds, 3; S. Sargent, GO.vds, 4. Time, 2.35 1-5. The winner and his co-marker, Fussell, set a hot pace over the first half mile, where the latter i> ired with a stripped axle. The rest of the Held then moved up, but Coates maintained a nice lend, to score comfortably. One and a half lengths separated second and third man.
