ONLOOKER'S VIEWPOINT.

MOUNT EDEN SWIMMING CLUB. A correspondent, "A.C.G.," writes:— "Having visited the Mount Eden Swimming Baths regularly this summer I noticed that the "Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club has some great swimmers among the men members, who, in my opinion and from my own observations, would make ideal surfmeri. As one interested in swimming and surf life-savinp, especially the latter, I would very much like to see this popular swimming club take up surf life-saving, seeing that it possesses the talent for the making of an excellent surf life-saving club,, and take its place among the leading surf clubs of Auckland. I am given to understand that there are two well-known Auckland swimming clubs who have taken up surf lifesaving with the help of the Surf Association. They have made a success of it by holding their own in competitions against the cradk surf clubs of New Zealand and in actually saving lives from | drowning. Quite a number of other people have the same opinion, and I sincerely hope that the Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club will follow the example of these two swimming clubs by taking up surf life-saving in the near future."
