WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
NEW LYNN. New Lynn recently held their picnic at Whonuapai on Air. Ott's property. Two buses were engaged and a thoroughly enjoyable time was spent until four o'clock in the afternoon. OMAHA AND PAKIRI. The monthly meeting was held in the Leigh Hall last week. Miss Shepherd presiding. The roll call wae "A Useful Hint in Sewing." Miss V. Necley contributed a pianoforte solo. It was decided to enter a court in the Wellsford Show. One new member was gained. Mrs. T. H. Aehton presided at the trading stall. The competition of best apple pie (short paste) was won by Mrs. J. Torkington, with Mrs. Rogers second, Miss R. Matheson third, Mrs. A. J. Mathesou fourth. For decorated coathanger, Mies Shepherd and Mrs. A. VVyatt equal, first, Mrs. A. J. Matheson second, Mrs. Rogers third. For six best dahlias, Miss Shepherd first and Mrs. D. A. Matheson second. The hostesses for the afternoon were: Mesdamcs J. Wyatt, R. D. Matheson and Gozar.
