PEACE-TIME VICTORS.
RETURN OF SAAR TROOPS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, February 22. Thfi first contingent of the British troops, who formed part of the international force in the Saar, consisting of the Ist Essex Regiment, marched across London this morning to entrain for their ca 111 p in Yorkshire.
A great crowd greeted them 011 arrival at Victoria Station. The men looked fit and cheerful. They were headed by their own band and by that of the Irish Guards.
"The Times" describes them as "peacetime victors," and pays tribute to the manner in which they performed an international task. It recalls the German Press tribute to their "unimpeachable attitude," and says that they had shown that good march discipline aiul a keen enjoyment of life can go very well together.
