TE KUITI AERODROME.

PUBLIC WORKS POLICY.

PROTEST TO MINISTER,

The policy of converting Public Works jobs into relief works is the subject of a strong protest made by the National Union of Unemployed in a letter forwarded by the secretary, Mr. F. E. Lark, to the Minister.

The Minister is informed that in view of the fact that workers in many other occupations are having the "cuts" partially restored, the relief workers feel that the time has come to discontinue the application of relief rates on public works. A protest is also made against flip perpetuation of relief works at Te Kuiti aerodrome, and a request is made that the pfoposal to limit the earnings to relief allocation be withdrawn and the men given an opportunity to earn a living wage. A further protest is made against what is considered the inadequate rate set for all public works.
