Canon C. A. B. Watson lias returned from Wellington. Mr. H. 11. Sterling, chairman of tha Railways Board, left for the South by train yesterday. Bear-Admiral and Mrs. R. E. Byrd leave for the south by the Limited tomorrow night. Mr. Geoffrey Marler left by the Mariposa bust night on a short visit to Sydney, and Melbourne. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, arrived from Wellington by the express this morning. Dr. C. E. Beeby, executive officer of the New Zealand Council for Educational Research, is visiting Auckland. Mr. T. B. Clay, chairman of J;he Auckland Harbour Board, has returned from the meeting of the Harbours Association. Mr. W. A. Grounds, of Hokianga, a member of the Dairy Board, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. The Rev. W. Bower Black, of St. David's Presbyterian Church, has returned from a holiday in the South Island.

Dr. F. P. Keppel, president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and Mrs. Keppel, left for Australia by the Mariposa last night. Sir Carriek Robertson left by the Mariposa last night to attend the opening of the Australian Royal College of Surgeons at Melbourne. Mr. F. E. Weatbrook was admitted yesterday as a solicitor of the Supreme Court by Mr. Justice Herdman, on the motion of Mr. A. C. A. Sexton. The Hon. L. J. Clifford and Mrs. Clifford, of Melbourne, left by the Mariposa last night after a tour of New Zealand. Mr. T. H. Easdown, manager in Auckland of the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., leaves for Wellington by the Limited to-morrow night. Mr. A. Gardner, chairman of the Auckland Surf Life-Saving Association, and ill - . H. C. Sidford, secretary, are attending a meeting of life-saving associations at New Plymouth. Mr. C. StanVsy Smith, managing director of the Dunedin "Evening Star," and retiring chairman of directors of the New Zealand Press Association, will leave New Zealand in April on an <Xglit months' trip abroad. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Smith. Mr. A. R. Gudoff, of New Plymouth, Mr. J. A. Russell, of Palmerston North, and Mr. S. Voyce, of Te Ivuiti, who are acting as judges at the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association's annual summer show, are at the Royal Hotel.
