The question of l>ank holidays and a fixed date for Easter, ae recently raised by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, with particular reference to the bank holidays for 19:55, was before the Auckland council yesterday, when a letter from the Associated Chambers pn the subject was received. It stated that the banks poseibly would now open on St. George's Day (April 24), whereas the executive desired them to be rc-opened on tho preceding clay as well.
