WARMLY CHEERED.

DUKE IN FAR NORTH. ENTHUSIASM AT KQHUKOHU. TREE-FELLING AT OMAHUTA. (By Telegraph.—Special ro "Star.") RAWENE, this day. Glorious weather to-day again smiles on North Auckland for the visit of the Duke of Gloucester. His Highness was up early and found the water at Opononi much to his liking. His inseparable companions, Digger and Sally, frisked along the beach ahead of their Royal master, who, with all the abandon of a sandboy, splashed the terriers before plunging into the tide. As usual His Highness was last to leave the water, swimming being one of his favourite pastimes. There was a full muster of residents of Opononi on the wharf to witness the Duke's departure by launch for Rawene and to cheer the first member of the Royal family to visit the district. Similarly, at Rawene, where a brief stop was made, tho entire population lined the wharf and waterfront to express a good-will message. It was a greatly excited Kohukoliu which awaited the arrival of the Duke by launch from Opononi, via Rawene. A generous display ot" bunting invested the village with a carnival atmosphere. Stripped of its ceremonial cloak the welcome from this centre was all the moic impressive, the spectators vociferously cheering the visitor. From Kohukoliu. Prince Henry continued his trip inland by ear, en route to Omahuta, via Marigamukc bridge, to see a further display of tree felling and logging. This time a white pine instead of a kauri is the timber to be felled.
