ROBERT DONAT.

IN GREAT DEMAND. Robert Donat, English actor, who scored one of the season's greatest individual screen "hits" in "The Count of Monte Cristo," is to play the name role in a Hollywood production of "Peter Ibbetson." Donat, in England, confirmed the contract verbally and will sign the papers when they reach him.

Robert Donat (pronounced "Doan-at") has been placed under a long-term contract by another Hollywood studio, and the first film he is to make will continue his career as a swashbuckler de luxe. This is none other than a talkie based 011 Rafael Sabatini's famous adventure tale, "Captain Blood," done to perfection as a silent production. Donat will be remembered by most lilm-goers for his two English appearances, in "That Night in London," and as Thomas Culpeper, lover of Catherine H,oward, in "The Private Life of Henry VIII."

He is at present in England appearing in a successful stage play, "Mary Read," based 011 the character of a notorious eighteenth century woman pirate, and he is to star in a film version of this play later in the year. Yet another film project is being planned for him in England. This is Alfred Hitchcock's venture translation of the John Buehan play, ''The Thirty-nine Steps."
