CENTENARY TOURNEY. MRS. CALDOW'S FIRST DEFEAT. (Received O.IiO a.m.) MELBOURNE, January 20. After four wins Mrs. Caldow (New Zealand) suffered her lirst defeat 111 the croquet championships yesterday. Both the English captain, Du i're, and the Australian captain, (J. J. Miller, have suffered defeats. The only undefeated players are J. C. Windsor and \V. T. McCleery, both Victorians. The New Zealar.dors' matches to-day resulted: —J. E. Wltherow (Melbourne) defeated Mrs. Caldow, who was also defeated by R. I'oulter (Eilgland). No New Zealanders are left in the play to-day.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The annual tournament of the Auckland Croquet Association will open next Thursday and will be continued on the following days. Play will be divided into senior and junior grades. The order of play for the first day is as follows:—-Senior championship doubles, 10 a.m., at Carlton, the first four couples in A and B sections. At Epsom: Section C, all other players to be ready when called upon. Junior grade, handicap doubles: 10 a.m., at Mount Eden, • ■sections A and B. At United: Sections C. and D.
