NEW DRAMATIC SHOWS.
PLAYS TO OPEN IN AUCKLAND
Theatre-goers will be keenly interested in the announcement that Messrs. J. C. Williamson, Ltd., will present a newLondon dramatic company of seloctecl artists in two of the sensational plays of to-day—"Ten-Minute Alibi" and "The Winfl and the Rain." The season will open at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday, January IS, with "Ten-Minute Alibi." "A play of thrills, excitement, quick entrances and hurried exits," is the description given "Ten-Minute Alibi," by an Australian critic. It revolves around a "perfect crime" as dreamed by the hero Tinder the influence of a drugged cigarette, administered by the villain, who has dishonourable intentions towards the girl loved by the hero. Having dreamed, the young man commits the actual murder, and proves his alibi by cleverly manipulating the clock. The company will be headed by the noted English actor, George Thirlwell, who is making his first appearance in X'ew Zealand. "Ten-Minute Alibi" will be succeeded by the most successful play ever written by a- New Zealander. This is Dr. Merton Hodge's comedy-drama of medical student life, "The Wind and the Rain," which is still running both in London and Xew York. It ran for a season of seven weeks in Melbourne recently, with the company which is to be seen in Xew Zealand.
