MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.
The Manurewa Town Board met last night, the chairman, Mr. Cox, presiding.
Water Scheme.—ln a long discussion 011 water supplies, speakers stressed the acute shortage during the present dry spell. It was stated that the board's share o£ the cost of a comprehensive report on the Papakura scheme would be £30. Messrs. Pegler and Edwards strongly advocated action in the matter, pointing out that finally the matter lay in the hands of the ratepayers, who would either accept or reject proposals for raising a loan. In reply to the chairman, the engineer, Mr. B. P. Worley, stated that the whole of the Papakura catchment area would have to be acquired. It was finally agreed that the board pay £30 to obtain the report. New Building.—The building inspector reported that the building on the Great South Road in course of erection was satisfactory, materials used in construction being up to the board's standard.
Metal Supplies.—The tender of Mr. A. Phillips for carting metal for the board was aceeptcd.
Hill Road.—This work was reported to be now in hand, two months being the engineer's estimate for completion. All available labour employed by the board is to concentrate on this job.
Dog Tax.—lt was decided that the dog tax lie the same as last year, 10/ being the maximum charge allowed by the board's by-laws.
