INDIAN KILLED.
STRUCK BY MOTOR TRUCK
HOBSON STREET FATALITY.
Knocked down by a motor truck at the corner of Hobson and Wellington Streets, City, shortly after 8.30 last evening, a middle-aged Indian, Laid Jina, tobacconist, of 243, Hobson Street, City, received a fracture of the skull and internal injuries, from which he died in the Auckland Hospital a few minutes after he "had been admitted.
The accident happened as the Indian was crossing Hobson Street to his shop, which was also his residence, after making a purchase at another shop. The driver of the truck, Mr. Wiii'auif Edwards, a Maori, of Mount Ruskill, swerved sharply to avoid him, but he ,was>. struck by a miming board pi the truck. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital by a St. John ambulance. Deceased, who had a wife in India, had been in business in Auckland for a number of yeais, ar.d was a prominent member of the I'idiaii community.
