MOTOR CYCLIST'S PERIL. Suspended above a precipice between 200 and 300 feet high, a motor cyclist owed his life to a tree on the New Plymouth side of Mount Messenger on the afternoon of Boxing Day, states tlie "Taranaki Daily News." He and his machine had run over the eide of the road and fallen 20 or 30 feet before being caught by a friendly trunk. Other- J wise" there would have been a crash to inevitable destruction in the valley far below. Passing motorists who rescued the rider and his machine from the predicament were amazed to find the man not seriously hurt and the cycle not badly damaged. _ -
