In J 901 he was appointed Regis- ' trar of the Native Land Court at ' Wanganui, which position he held until ' 191 S. when lie was transferred to a i similar position in Wellington, Mr. ; Maekny. who was born in ISU4. was a ' son of the late Jnd<re Alexander Mnckny. ' of the Native Land Court, and his 1 father's cousin was James Mackay. who , was said to have bought Westlantl from the Maoris for £300. I
