WATER SHORTAGE.

DROUGHT AT WANGANUI. ABNORMAL SUMMER DEMAND. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, this day. The prolonged spell of dry weather has depleted the Wanganui city wator supply, and the stage has been reached where probably the hosing of gardens will be prohibited. The supply at Okehti dam is gradually creeping lower and lower, and an electric pump v orking night and dry at Kav Iwi spring is unable to cope with the abnormal tiemand. It was hoped that the closing of business premises for two days would allow the reserve supply to improve, but this hope has been disappointed.
