UNEMPLOYMENT PAY.
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR. MINISTER'S ANNOUNCEMENT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON", this day. Tlic sum of £05,000 is being expended by the Unemployment Board in giving special concessions to registered unemployed over the Christmas and New Year period. Tlio acting-Minister of Employment, Mr. Young, informed the "Star" correspondent that relief workers who, but for the holidays, would be normally employed in that fortnight, will receive two weeks' pay without tlie necessity of working. In addition a general gratuity equivalent to one week's relief pay, will be distributed to those registered and eligible unemployed who are 011 the registers on December 8, and who during tlio preceeding twelve months have worked 13 weeks on relief employment.
