WENDY CHATS
Dear Girls,— December! Just fancy! I can hardly believe it. You know, round about this' time I usually start counting the days to Christmas. I tick them off very neatly on my calendar and think "One day less" with a delicious little thrill of excitement. "Childish," scoffs Peter Pan. "Absolutely childish, Wendy." But I am pretending not to hear. Even the old Croc, is looking rather shocked. This week brought a little visitor to our office. 1 think you will nil remember her—Margaret Perkins of Pukekohe. Margaret looked very mysterious. "I've a present for you, Wendy," ,ihe told me. "Guess what it is." But of course 1 couldn't. I'm quite a duffer at guessing things; so forthwith the bag must be opened and 100 beautiful patches arrayed in oil theii splendour on the desk before me. Would you believe it, girls, this brings Margaret's total for the year up to 326? That's splendid, Margaret dear. I am very proud of you. And what now to tell you? Oh, dear, yes—the debate. This promises to be very jolly, so do hurry along your letters. Besides I have a firm and inner conviction that the affirmatives are going to win! "Fancy," Peter Pan is murmuring coldly, more to Fuzz than anyone else. Fuzz is my black cat. _ No more news just now, girls. Congratula- /SLAI tions to Kathleen, Ngaere and the two Phyllises n \ and Gloria sends her congratulations too. j & J Love from
