STABLE AND TRACK NOTES
TO REAPPEAR SHORTLY. Ramo is still running on his owner's place at Galloway, Central Utago. He is in great heart, and it is on the cards that lie will shortly make his appearance at Wingatui (says a southern writer). In a season where middle-distance horses are so scarce in the far south he should have little difficulty in picking uf> a race or two. PROGRESS OF MINERVAL. Minerval, who figures in the nominations for the Auckland Cup, is a daily visitor to the Riccarton tracks, but has not done any serious work (says a southern writer). He moved a little short after some easy work last week, and it would appear that his owner-trainer will have difficulty in getting him to the post for the big Ellerslie event, which he won last year. NEEDS EXPERIENCE. The northern-owned Palardo is still at Ellerslie and will remain here until the summer meeting is over. This two-year-old showed plenty of speed in the Cambria Handicap last Saturday, but ran very wide at the turn, losing a lot of ground, ami was not prominent at the finish. She is a well-grown filly and one likely to do better when she has had more experience. NOT BEING HURRIED. Tidalia, the two-year-old half-sister to Gay Marigold, is not being hurried in her preparation, though she is in nice healthy condition. This filly is a shade on the small side, but she shows plenty of quality, resembling her half-sister to a large extent in conformation. The fact that Tidalia comes from a proved racing family is a lot in her favour, and more is likely to be heard of her. A PAIR FOR ELLERSLIE. Vintago and Gaysome, two Riccarton candidates, are definitely assigned to race at Ellerslie during the holidays (says a i southern writer). Vintage-is to race in the Auckland Cup and Gaysome in the Railway Handicap. Vintage may be very hard to beat in the Auckland Cup on his form towards the conclusion of the Riccarton meeting. He apparently is one of the Shambles breed from which something can be expected. Vintage, it is understood, will go to Sydney for the Sydney Cup, which is run over the Metropolitan distance, a mile and a half. ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. W.H.L. (Ponsonby)—(l) £3 7/0; (2) £1 8/6. 1
