AT TE RAPA.

This Morning's Work.—Royal Artist and Star Artist.

HAMILTON, this day. At Te Rapa the course proper, with the nags 55ft out, was available for fast wont this morning, and following rain overnight the sting was out of the going, which was in first-class order.

_ The first out was Star Arti6t, who jumped off from the five-furlong post. She was picked up by Whirling at the halfmile, and the latter was a shade in front at the finish. Star Artist was timed to cover the distance in 1.4 3-5. She wag going well within herself at the completion of the effort. A. Julian's charge is in great nick for Saturday. Whirling could not be timed from the half, a 6 the peg was obscured by a heavy mist. Royal Artist came home from the seven-furlong post in 1.35, the first half-mile in 54%5— a good effort. A smart half-mile was credited to Adalene and Sinking Fund, who brushed over the distance in 51 l-ss— the best of the morning over the distance.. Sinking Fund was slightly in front at the finish, but Adalene was doing it nicely. King Ford was several lengths in front of Gay Poto over a similar distance in 525. King Ford was going comfortably at the post. Hunting Bag hit out nicely while running six furlongs in 1.20%. He was sticking on «well in the concluding stages. Ruby Meteor and Travelling Agent were not bustled to come home from the seven-furlong post in 1.43. Curlew, who is in good fettle, worked strongly on the inner grass, but was not after time. Polly Douglas was doing better than Mossvale at the end of five furlongs in 1.8%. Valpai was moving along freely at tlie ; completion of a round in 2.8 2-5. Luminary was a length and a half away, and Prince of Orange a further ten lengths behind. Valpai's exhibition was a pleasing one. Joyzell slipped over half a mile in 53 4-ss. Dubarry and Light Comedy were sent along on the two-year-old course, running half a mile easily in 565.

The visiting horses at Te Rapa at present are: Aga Khan, Diagano, Midiaiij Argument, Intaglio and Morrath. All were restricted to useful tasks on the plough and inner grass.
