ON THE GREENS.

AUCKLAND BOWLING CENTRE. PENNANT COMPETITION. SECOND ROUND SATURDAY. The second round in the annual pennant competition of the Auckland Bowling Centre, to be piayed on Saturday, is invested with peculiar interest on account of the great success achieved last week by clubs who appeared to have accepted a voluntary handicap through entering a larger number of rinks than ever before. The general expectation seemed to be that these clubs could not possibly score as high a percentage of wins as they did with the smaller quota last year, and there will be a natural curiosity to obseryj what measures the various selectors would adopt this week, in order to maintain the position already gained. Accordingly the selected teams, as published in this issue, will be scrutinised very critically, with a view to assessing the capacity of the selectors. One very reasonable measure of assistance is invited on their behalf, and that is that selected payers who find themselves unable to till their et/igements should send word to this effect to the selectors at once. Last Saturday some selectors had a very annoying experience, in having to find substitutes at the last minute, and this seems a very unfair attitude towards the selectors and their club.
