OTAHUHU ASSOCIATION.

In the third series of games played at Otahuhu, that between Challenge and Kempthorne's United was expected to be a very close contest, but contrary to expectations Kempthorne's failed sadly against the bowling or W. Bright, who took eight wickets at a cost of nine runs, a really meritorious feat. In the second innings he took a further five wickets for 20 runs. Railway scored a narrow first innings victory over Hellaby's, and Mount Richmond defeated St. Joseph's (nine men only) in tint first innings. Prior to the commencement of the Chal-lenge-Kempthorne game the Mayor, Mr. H. T. Clements, presented Mr. Laurie Buckley, on behalf of the Otahuhu Cricket Association, with a handsome travelling rug, as a slight recognition of his excellent services whilst secretary of the association for the past three years. The large gathering of players and spectators loudly applauded the Mayor's remarks. Mr. Buckley suitably responded. Results of games :— SENIOR GRADE. CHALLENGE V. KEMPTHORNE'S. Challenge.—First innings 341 (Hynes 45, Montgomery 37 not out, Sutcliffe 13, Connors 32. W. Bright 30). Bowling: E. Kemplay live for 27, Clayton four for 29, Martlett one for 35. Kempthorne's United.—First innings 20 (Marfiett 12 not out). Bowling: Bright eight for 0, Connors two for 17. Second innings 54 (D. Game 30, Clayton 34). Bowling: Bright live for 20, Connors two for 10, Hynes two for 2, McDowell one for 0. Marfiett was the only bat to stand up to the bowling, and had bad luck to be run out in the second innings. Challenge gained a six-point win. MOUNT RICHMOND V. ST. JOSEPH'S. Mount Richmond.—First innings 322 (Pierce 25, E. Rugg 25, Stanaway 20, Austin IS). Bowling: Wells three for 29, McNeil two for 20, Cornelius five for IG. St. Joseph's.—First innings (nine men only) 80 (McCowntt 28, McNeil 14).
