MR. W. J. VERRY.

Mr. William John Verry died at Waihi on November 8, aged 76. A member of the Nelson Volunteers nearly 60 years ago, .Mr. Verry was born at i Wakeficld, Nelson, hk father having arrived in the Tory in 1842. Mr. W. J. Verry, who was a blacksmith, came north and was mining at Coromandel for a number of years. He etarted as a '' blacksmith at Wai hi in 1006, and only retired abont four years ago. He belonged to the Oddfellows for over half a century. Mrs. Verry survives her husband. There is one eon, Mr. W. N. Verry, of W-hangumata.
