POST OFFICE FACILITIES. : EVENING SERVICE WANTED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, Wednesday. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce last night the question of having the post and telegraph office open between scVen and eight o'clock at Sight was discussed. Mr. Robbins stated that Tauranga jvas becoming a tourist resort and the facility was needed badly. Mr. Williams thought that there should be some provision whereby postal facilities would be made available in the town itself. It was decided that representations be inade to the Postmaster-General requesting that the post, office should be open between seven and eight o'clock. Mr. Williams also moved that the attention of the Post and Telegraph ■Department should be drawn to' the desirability of opening a branch post and telegraph office in the business part of the town in the vicinity of the Triangle. The motion was carried. In reply to a request by the chamber that auctioneers' licenses for Tauranga should be reduced from £40 to £IU, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. stated that the section of the Act which contains authority for the constitution of special districts wherein the fee of £10 is payable does not apply to boroughs and town districts, and consequently he regretted his inability to declarc Tauranga a special district.
