BRITISH INQUIRY.

Committee Seeks Information Abroad. FROM U.S.A. AND GERMANY. (British Official Wireless.)' (Received 9.30 a.m.) RUGBY, October 23. A committee appointed by the Postmaster-General Sir Kingsley Wood, under the chairmanship of Lord Selsdon to consider the development of television and the conditions under which a public television service should be provided in Britain, has now almost completed its hearing of a large amount of evidence. Many demonstrations of television have been witnessed, and tho committee's work in the direction of formulating a policy is well advanced. The committee considers it is essential, before completing its report, to obtain first-hand information concerning recent developments in the United States. The chairman and three other members will accordingly leave ior New York on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, other members of the committee will visit Germany for a similar purpose.
