The Wellsford Brownie Pack held its initial enrolment 011 October 6, when Captain King (Maungaturoto) enrolled eight brownies. Parents, friends and guides gathered to witness the ceremony, which was enacted around a cleverly arranged fairy glade and magic pool. The brownies and queenies, with Brown Owl Long, rendered several interesting songs and brownie items. Brown Owl Smith (Maungaturoto) was invited to join the powwow to tell a story. The brownies gave an enthusiastic grand howl in honour of the visitors. A dainty afternoon tea was served in the supper room, which had been artistically decorated with streamers and kowhai.
