RESCUED FROM LION'S JAWS.
In the tent where they were camping on the Kafue River, Rhodesia, Mr. and Mrs. George de Champel awakened in the night to see a lioness carrying their baby daughter from her bed. Rousing native attendants, the father led a search of the adjacent bush with spears and sticks, and found the lioness ten minutes later in a ravine with the baby at its side, crying but unharmed. The animal was slain, and the child restored to her mother with only a few scratches.
