TOURNEY AT MIDDLEMORE
Good Scoring This Morning — Savage's Round of 71.
The Labour Day week-end golf tournament at Middlemore was continued this morning under ideal conditions. The Hislop Cup, a medal competition over 30 holes, was played and the Middlemore Cup and the group contest, both handicap match play, were continued. There was some good scoring. T. E. Clark, the first player to return a card, doing a round of 75. He was followed by H. Plunvley with 73, but later P. Savage took tho lead with a 71, two strokes better than tho scratch score of the course. The following were the best cards returned in the Hislop Cup: —P. C. Savage 71, H. Plumley 73, W. A. Donald 74, T. E. Clark 75, H. B. Lusk 75, E. L. Bartleet 70, R. D. Wright 78, B. H. Menzies 78, H. P. Buckley 78, F. Lucas 79, J. L. Carnachan 79, 11. C Stephens 80, J. P. Aldred 80, A. E. Browne SO, A. L. McLean SO, W. S. Ralph 80, L. Alderton 80, J. M. Coltman 81. The second round of the Middlemore Cup resulted as follows: W. A. Donald beat J. H. Earle, 4 and 3; G. Coltman beat S. A. Abel, 2 and 1. Results of the second round of the group contest: — Group I.—T. E. Clark beat R. G. Rainger by default; H. Plumley beat S. S. Wilson, 6 and 5. Group 2.— J. E. Stedman beat R. B. Wilson, 1 up; F. Lucas beat T. Morpeth by default. Group- 3. —H. B. Lusk beat R. D. Wright, 1 up; R. O. Gardner beat E. E. Beehan, 5 and 4. Group 4. —A. Kirker beat V. Masters, 5 and 4; H. Buddy beat E. Howdcn, 6 and 4. Group 5.— J. Gilmore beat F. Thompson, 1 up; A. L. McLean beat H. Kirker, 3 and 2. Group 6. — J. Carnachan beat W. Abbott, 4 and 3; P. Elliott beat M. A..
