WAIKATO HUNT.
Annual Meeting.
LORD VAL AT LAST. A "Ctfrtainty" Beaten in Farmers' — Hunters' Hurdles to Cynical Kid. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CAMBRIDGE, this day. There ia an excellent attendance at tho Waikato Hunt Club's annual totalisalor meeting. The weather is beautiful, the track is fast. Jim Quin was withdrawn from the Farmers' Steeplechase, and the public elects were Forest Glow and Royal Light. Tho race was a chapter of accidents, and the first and second horses were the only ones to stand up. When they settled down Brio was showing the way to Bells of Bojv, Bamba, Forest Glow, Cromwell and Royil Light, but Bamba fell at the second fence along the back but was remounted, end the order past the stands was Brio, Bella of Bow, Royal Light, Forest Glow and Cromwell. Brio came down at the sod wall, while Bamba also came to grief again. Royal Light had charge along the back from Bells of Bow, Cromwell and Forest Glow. Cromwell fell going across the top, and tho order into the straight was Royal Light, Forest Glow and Bells of Bow, but at the last fence Royal Light came down and badly interfered with Forest Glow. Bells of Bow went on to win by half a length from Forest Glow, who was a certainty beaten, with Cromwell, who was remounted, 20 lengths away. "Well-backed Winner. Seven started in the Hunters' Hurdles, and at the close of betting the best backed were Cynical Kid, Sandy Dix and Valpai, and they finished in that order. Just before the start Valstreet bolted and covered half a mile before being pulled up. When they got away Valstreet was showing the way to Glenade, Valpai, Sandy Dix, Cynical Kid, Clan Ronald and Carlisle. At the hurdle in the straight Valstreet fell, and the order past tho stands was Glenade, Cynical Kid, Sandy Dix, Valpai and Clan Ronald. Cynical Kid joined Glenade in tho lead, and this pair led along the back from Sandy Dix, with a gap of four lengths. to Clan Ronald, Valpai and Carlisle. Cynical Kid was in front across the top, and was attended into the straight by Sandy Dix, Glenade, Valpai ami Clan Ronald. Finishing on solidly, Cynical Kid went on to win nicely by a length and a half from Sandy Dix, who beat Vaipai by four lengths. Clan Ronald was fourth; then came Glenade and Carlisle. A Big Field. A big field faced the starter in the Bardowio Handicap, and when the figures were balanced most support was invested upon Lady Zinnia, Gay Roso and Engi. At the start Royal Winton lost, a few lengths, La Femme Noire and Engi being tho first to show out, and along the back the order was. Respectful, Engi, La Fenimo Xoire, Lady Zinnia and Aramie. Respectful was etill in command across the top, attended by Ija Femme Noire. Lady Zinnia, Reviver and Gay Rose. When they reached tho straight entrance tho field bunched, Respectful being just in front of Engi, Lady Zinnia, La Femme Noire, Gay Rose, Pelagia and Aramis. Reepectful hung on in the run homo and won nicely by a length from La Femme Noire, with Gay Rose two lengths away third.
